How to register at the Tax Department

Are you a natural person resident in the Republic of Cyprus? Have you incorporated a company in the Republic of Cyprus? Here, you’ll find summarized information on how to register at the Tax Department.

Every company is obliged, within sixty (60) days from the date of its incorporation, to apply for Taxpayer’s registration with the Tax Department and to obtain a tax number.


At the same time, any natural or legal person residing or is registered in the Republic of Cyprus, that has made taxable supplies of goods and services within the last twelve (12) consecutive months or will be making such taxable supplies of goods and services over the amount of €15.600 in the next thirty (30) days, is required to submit a supplementary form for VAT Registration.


#1 - Registration for Direct Taxation


Submit to the district Tax Offices or send via email to the district Offices the following forms, originally signed by the applicant or an authorized representative:


Original authorization document (applicable only for authorized representatives)

Form TD2001

Citizenship documents (for individuals):

  • Cypriot Citizen: copy of Identity Card

  • European Citizen - resident of Cyprus: copy of "Registration Certificate" from the Department of Civil Registry and Migration (CRMD)

  • Non-European Citizen - resident of Cyprus: copy of "Residence Card" from the Department of Civil Registry and Migration (CRMD)

  • Foreign resident: a letter explaining the reasons requesting registration with a copy of an official document of the foreign country indicating tax identification number, or political identity number, or social security number.

Incorporation documents (for legal entities):

  • Companies: Certificates (copies) of Incorporation or registration, Registered Office address, Directors/Secretary and Shareholders from the Registrar of Companies

  • Partnerships: Registration Certificate (copy)

  • Legal entities, NOT registered in the Cyprus Authorities Registry: Identification documents (in Greek or in English) by an official foreign Authority, responsible for legal entities (e.g. certificate of incorporation of registration, certificate of Directors and Secretary) and a signed letter by the applicant or an authorized representative, explaining the reasons requesting registration.

#2 - Registration for VAT purposes


Submit to the district Tax Offices or send via email to the district Offices the following forms, originally signed by the applicant or an authorized representative:


Original authorization document (applicable only for authorized representatives)

Forms TD2001 and TΦ1101 (available only in Greek).

Evidence confirming your taxable transactions in Cyprus is needed (e.g. copy of contract, invoice related to activities etc.), is needed.


Other documents (for individuals):

  • Cypriot Citizen: copy of Identity Card

  • European Citizen - resident of Cyprus: copy of "Registration Certificate" from the Department of Civil Registry and Migration (CRMD)

  • Non-European Citizen - resident of Cyprus: copy of "Residence Card" from the Department of Civil Registry and Migration (CRMD)

  • Foreign resident: a letter explaining the reasons requesting registration with a copy of an official document of the foreign country indicating tax identification number, or political identity number, or social security number.

Other documents (for legal entities):

  • Companies: Certificates (copies) of Incorporation or registration, Registered Office address, Directors/Secretary and Shareholders from the Registrar of Companies

  • Partnerships: Registration Certificate (copy) and VAT form 102 (available only in Greek)

  • Legal entities, NOT registered in the Cyprus Authorities Registry: Identification documents (in Greek or in English) by an official foreign Authority, responsible for legal entities (e.g. certificate of incorporation of registration, certificate of Directors and Secretary and a signed letter by the applicant or an authorized representative, explaining the reasons requesting registration.

  • Companies registered in Cyprus, with their main business activities abroad: Questionnaire (available only in Greek)

  • Trademark: Trademark Registration Certificate (copy)

#3 - Simultaneous registration for both Direct Taxation and VAT purposes


Submit to the district Tax Offices or send via email to the district Offices the forms mentioned in #1 and #2 above, originally signed by the applicant or an authorized representative.
